Metal printing plates mounted on wooden blocks for the printing of 《正道公據》 (Zheng Dao Gong Ju), a syncretic religious text They are part of a larger collection of printing plates used by Feeha Cheng Seah Temple to print Chinese Buddhist, Taoist, Confucian and syncretic religious texts in the 1950s. These are significant because the printing was done in Singapore and distributed overseas. In the 1950s, Chinese language religious literature was largely published elsewhere and imported into Singapore. Zheng Dao Gong Ju is a syncretic text apparently combining elements of the three religions: Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian. In Singapore, syncretic sects were common in the 1950s and up till the 1970s.
